The course is highly interactive with each theory session being followed by demonstration, practical tasks (including AED DVD for unit 4) and assessment of individual skills. Training will be delivered on a ratio of 1 mannequin and 1 training AED for every 4 learners as stated in the new standard. All participants receive a comprehensive first aid and CFR manual.
Anyone who wants to be trained and certified as an Occupational First Aider and deliver first aid care according to the protocols taught in the course.
FETAC level 4 Certificate and/or relevant life and work experiences and/or leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications.
Participants complete a theoretical exam and practical skills assessments as indicated below. The fair and consistent assessment of learners is paramount to Anderco and is implemented through our QA system. All assessments are carried out in accordance with FETAC regulations and are internally verified and externally authenticated before certification is issued. All participants have the right to appeal their result and all appeals will be dealt with in accordance with the Anderco FETAC appeals procedure. All participants who successfully complete the written and practical examinations will be awarded with a FETAC Level 5 component certificate in Occupational First Aid on their first refresher course post 1st September 2008, which is valid for 2 years as per HSA guidelines.
