Course Objectives

On completion of the course participants will be able to:
  • Identify chemicals in the workplace.
  • List procedures for chemical spill emergencies.
  • Use equipment competently.
  • Describe how to dispose of chemicals safely following a clean-up.
  • Follow precise decontamination procedures.

Course Programme

  • Review of chemical classifications and hazard labelling.
  • Spill activation procedures and response priorities.
  • Review of Personal Protective Equipment and clean-up materials.
  • Hands-on familiarisation with equipment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment donning exercises.
  • Review of simple chemical identification tests.
  • Practical chemical identification exercise.
  • Spill clean-up and waste disposal procedures (e.g. acids and solvents).
  • Student classroom exercise.
  • Decontamination procedures.
  • Practical chemical spill exercises (e.g. acid and solvent spills).

Please Note

Mileage @ €0.50 per km and accommodation @ €100 per night may be charged for courses.

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Anderco.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone required to deal with potential chemical spills in the workplace.

Pre Course Requirements

The course requires the use of on-site equipment, e.g. PPE, chemical splash suits, gas-tight suits, leak detection monitors, combustible gas/oxygen monitors, absorbents, neutralisers, non-sparking shovels etc. It also requires classroom facilities and external practice areas. Companies must supply their own equipment.

Assessment / Certification

Certificate of attendance.
