• Describe the responsibilities of the confined space entrant, observer and supervisor.
• Give an overview of the hazards associated with confined space entry.
• State the purpose of a confined space entry permit and the steps required in obtaining one.
• Describe the confined space rescue procedure.
• Ensure that safe work systems and practices are put in place to ensure a safe place of work when working in confined spaces.
• Understand and demonstrate the operation of gas detectors.

• What is a confined space / identification / know the hazards / Definition.
• Risk assessments / risk reduction and control.
• Safe work practices: entry / work permits; safe procedures; Lockout/Tag-out; emergency plan.
• Duties of entrants, observers and supervisor
• Safety and Rescue equipment: harnesses, winches, fall arrestors; safety lighting; personal protective equipment (where used by the company); equipment maintenance and storage.
• Atmospheric testing: unsafe atmospheres; definitions (TLV, PEL, IDHL, LEL, UEL), gas detection equipment (where used by the company).
• Hot work in confined spaces.
• Emergency responses.
• Breathing apparatus: description, use, cleaning, care and maintenance.

Mileage @ €0.50 per km and accommodation @ €100 per night may be charged for courses.

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Anderco.

Anyone involved in workplace confined spaces and confined space operations.

Personnel must be medically fit and have previously attended a breathing apparatus course. Companies must supply their own equipment. Anderco can supply equipment at an additional charge.
