Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) training course will provide the Emergency Response Team and ERT Team Leader with a level of competency so they may deal with and manage both minor and serious emergency situations which may include as chemical spill, confined space rescues, fire, explosions, search and rescue in the workplace. The course content can be customized to suit requirements of the organization and level of current training of Emergency Response Team members. Training will take place on customer site and state-of-the-art off-site Emergency Response Training facility so to simulate various types of emergencies.

Course Objectives

On completion of this programme participants will be able to:
  • Operate a system of commands and procedures
  • Describe the nature of fire and how to extinguish it with fire extinguishers and fire hoses
  • Use every type of hand-held fire extinguisher in the right conditions
  • Follow correct procedures with fire fighting equipment
  • Operate Breathing Apparatus
  • Fight fire in a building, using Breathing Apparatus
  • Search and Rescue Procedures
  • Select and use PPE
  • Respond to chemical incidents
  • Respond to confined space incidents
  • Discuss Emergency Response Plan

Course Programme

Day 1
  • Legislation (Fire Services Acts, Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act, etc)
  • Understanding fires - Physics and chemistry of fires
  • Firefighting procedures (locating and fighting the fire)
  • Role of Emergency Response Team
  • Command and control
  • Using all types of firefighting equipment
  • Familiarisation of Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • BA - Set Description and Ancillary Equipment
  • Pre Use/Donning/Doffing Procedures
  • Elementary Physiology of Respiration
  • BA – Control Procedures
  • Practical Exercises Wearing Breathing Apparatus
  • Practical Exercise Search & Rescue
  • Confined Space entry Procedures
  • Practical Exercise Confined Space Entry & Rescue
  • Cleaning and Servicing of Sets
  • Internal Fire Emergency Response (Fire Alarm Panel / System)
Day 2 (Clonmel Fire Station)
  • Fire Extinguishers - training and familiarisation
  • Fire Fighting using fire extinguishers, fire hoses/fire reels and breathing apparatus
  • Working in hot and smoke filled building
  • Confined Spaces entry and rescue procedures
  • Search and rescue procedures in a live fire environment
  • Care and Maintenance – BA Sets
  • Chemical suit and decontamination procedures
  • Chemical spill response procedures
  • Practical fire response exercise
  • Practical chemical spill exercise
  • Practical personal injury response exercise
  • Practical exercise wearing breathing apparatus, etc
  • Confined space rescue exercise
NB. Course can be customised to client and site needs

 

Method of Training

The theoretical input and practical demonstrations on this course is presented in an interactive manner using discussion and group feedback. Practical exercises throughout the course reinforce the training. The physical exertion involved means that all participants should be physically fit and free from any respiratory disorder or heart disease.

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Anderco.

Please Note

Mileage @ €0.50 per km and accommodation @ €100 per night is may be charged for courses.

Course Fee:
On-site - 2 Instructors and Off-site at Clonmel Fire Station - 3 Instructors
Cost of 2 day ERT Course €3,750
  • Costs do not include Fire Fighting Equipment/PPE (Organisations must provide their own equipment) Cost does include Fire Extinguishers.
  • Hire of Clonmel Fire Station/Unit – Dates need to be confirmed well in advance to enable booking of Clonmel Fire Training Unit.

Pre Course Requirements

• Organisations must provide their own equipment. (Tested and certified)
• Previous experience of Breathing Apparatus is required.

Assessment / Certification

Anderco Certificate of Completion/ Attendance.
