Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks
It is a legal requirement to have a FÁS CSCS registration card and individuals who are working in any of the following occupational categories will be legally required to hold a FÁS CSCS Registration Card (Mobile Tower Scaffold, Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks, Shotfiring, and Locating Underground Services). Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006, this training is mandatory from July 2009.

Course Details
Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to train & assess participants on Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks as specified in Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual & Guidance for the Control and Management of Traffic at Roadworks, and in accordance with the relevant legislation.
On completion of this three-day course participants will be able to:

List the legislation related to Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks.

List equipment requirements for intended roadworks.

Draw plans of intended roadwork sites showing the position of signs, guarding etc.

Describe the relevant signs and devices used at roadwork’s.

Describe static and semi-static operations.
-
Identify the requirements for the installation of Traffic Management.

Understand and explain the traffic layouts set out in “Chapter 8 Road Traffic Signs. Manual, Department of the Environment” and the “Guidance for the Control and Management of Traffic at Roadwork’s.”

Install, maintain and remove signs and devices used on roadwork’s.

Organise, direct and manage the safe flow of traffic through roadwork’s, in all areas and with minimum delay to road users.

Create and maintain site records.

Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the subject by oral or written examination.

Please Note
Mileage @ €0.50 per km and accommodation @ €100 per night may be charged for courses.
English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Anderco.
Who Should Attend?
All managers, supervisors and employees who are required to plan, organise, direct and manage roadworks, in both rural and urban situations. Any person with an occupation or carrying out a task listed in Schedule 4 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 must attend.
Pre Course Requirements
Participants must have a valid Safe Pass card before attending this course.
Participants must have a good working knowledge of the English language. Courses can be delivered in languages other than English through prior arrangement with Anderco and where all participants on the same course speak the same language.
Assessment / Certification
Participants will complete both a written exam and a practical assessment.
On successful completion of both the exam and assessment, participants will be issued with a FAS CSCS card. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

Please Note:
All participants must arrive at 8.30 am sharp for course registration.
All participants will bring their own PPE gear (Boots, helmet, gloves & hi-vis vest)
Delegates who arrive late will unfortunately not be permitted to complete the programme.
All participants must bring a passport photo of themselves for their CSCS card registration.
All participants PPS numbers must be supplied to Anderco on the day of the training course.
